The Office of Sponsored Program (OSP), under the direction of the IEF, partners with the WCU academic and administrative communities to achieve research and community development goals. While working to foster relationships with Federal, State, Foundation, and Corporate sponsors, OSP advances those WCU research, training and service activities promulgated by faculty and staff that benefit our region. OSP invites all WCU faculty and staff to consider our office for all grant seeking and post-award needs.
IEF Office of Sponsored ProgramsWe promote the scholarly activities of the University community by facilitating opportunities for innovative research and community development. The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is responsible for guiding the sponsored research agenda of the Institute for the Economy and the Future (IEF) across programmatic areas and expanding its research funding and project delivery consistent with the University’s economic development mission .
Sponsored Academic Research Programs. The Office of Sponsored Programs is responsible for developing the IEF’s capability to deliver strategic regional economic research. Among the responsibilities of this office are managing and directing projects and coordinating the payment and delivery schedule of sponsored IEF academic research and private partnership projects.
Tasks include:
- Developing program strategies and directing staff assignments to secure funding and management of research and project initiatives;
- Directing professional staff in the development, implementation and administration of IEF sponsored research programs which focus the academic resources and research products of the University on community and economic development;
- Establishing oversight of research design, procedures, deliverables, data analysis and the interpretation of results for projects funded by external sources; and,
- Partnering with economic development entities in state, federal and local agencies and private foundations and companies, to identify and prioritize opportunities for funding sponsored research.
Program Development: The OSP will secure funding for innovative initiatives across programmatic areas through federal, state, and private sources. The office will also advise faculty and staff on the development of research proposals and project management. A major responsibility is to ensure that project proposals are consistent with the mission of the University and have been properly negotiated with sponsoring agencies regarding project design and deliverables.
Finance and Administration. The Office of Sponsored Programs has the responsibility for the monitoring and the provision of financial and administrative oversight for all grants and contract principal investigators. This office oversees the management of multiple budgets, grants, and contracts, and works to ensure that professional staff adhere to guidelines, policies, procedures, regulations and grant timeline deliverables as identified in grants and contracts.
